Help Keep Our Classrooms Healthy!
Illnesses are common among school aged children, especially this time of year. Deciding whether your child needs to stay home or is well enough to attend school is not always easy. If your student develops symptoms such as diarrhea, vomiting, fever, rash, or severe cough and/or congestion overnight or in the morning, they should be kept home and monitored.
Fevers often spike later in the day, so it is recommended that students be fever free 24 hours without the use of medication prior to returning to school. Diarrhea and vomiting should also be resolved for 24 hours prior to returning to school.
The CDC guidance for respiratory illnesses recommends return to normal activities once fever free 24 hours AND symptoms are overall improving.

Proper hand hygiene is one of the most effective ways to prevent illness and the spread of germs. Reinforcing the importance of handwashing at home with your child(ren) may help them form healthy habits and reduce illness.
