CMS Music Recruitment for 5th Graders

Dear 5^th Grade Parents,

Today, representatives from the CMS Band, Chorus, and Orchestra had the pleasure of meeting with 5^th grade students at Colonial Elementary School. The middle school students were able to highlight the amazing musical opportunities available when your child enters 6^th grade next school year. CMS offers the chance for every 6^th grade student to participate in a variety of music ensembles each year. We are very proud of our music program and eagerly look forward to both new and returning members. Whether your child is already participating, or would like to start in 6^th grade, we are sure they will enjoy this meaningful experience.

At Colonial Middle School, all students are required to take a music class. These classes meet every other day for one trimester. Students who participate in a performing ensemble; Band, Chorus, and Orchestra, are placed in a specialized music class instead of taking the basic ‘Introduction to Music’ class. These classes are designed to advance the students as musicians and provide the opportunity to explore the performing arts in greater detail than the ‘Intro to Music’ class.

If your child is already a part of the music program, we hope you will encourage them to continue their musical career at CMS. If you are not yet part of the program, it’s not too late to start! Joining is a great way to get involved at CMS! Please fill out the Google Form as soon as possible to ensure that your child is scheduled correctly. If you have any questions about the music program at CMS, please feel free to contact any music teacher at CMS.

Registering or withdrawing your child from a music group at CMS is easy—just complete the Google Form linked below. Students currently in a music group at CES will be automatically registered at CMS unless a withdrawal form is submitted. Once received, we will ensure your child is scheduled appropriately.
