Our Principals
Rose Rock, Principal
Rose Rock began her career in Colonial in 2016 as Principal at Conshohocken Elementary School and was appointed Principal of Colonial Elementary School in July 2017.
In her work in Colonial and prior to that in the School District of Philadelphia, Mrs Rock places a strong emphasis on data-based decision making, professional development, project-based learning, and community service. Under her leadership and dedication, McCall Elementary School (a K-8 school in Center City Philadelphia) was designed as a model school for the 2014-2015 school year and named a top 10 school in the district in 2015-2016.
In addition to her administrative experience, Mrs. Rock served as a teacher and teacher leader in the School District of Philadelphia for 14 years. She holds a Master of Administrative Leadership degree from Columbia University and a Master of Education degree from Holy Family University.
Michael Tauber, Assistant Principal
Michael Tauber joined the Colonial Elementary School team as the Assistant Principal in July 2021. He came from the School District of Philadelphia, where he served as a school counselor and later assistant principal at Anne Frank Elementary School. His experience there included organizing the school’s equity committee, introducing new technology through a blended learning pilot, and winning the Dr. Alan H Barson Service to the Profession award.
At Colonial Elementary School, Mr. Tauber continues to nurture the building's fun and caring environment for all children. "In every role that I have held, I have maintained my core educational belief that every student can grow and thrive if the community around them believes in them and has a growth mindset," he said.
Mr. Tauber earned his undergraduate degree at Temple University and holds two Master's Degrees: one in School Counseling from Arcadia University and a second in Educational Leadership from the University of Pennsylvania. He also serves as an adjunct professor at Penn State Abington, where he teaches an education course in Multimodal Literacies.
